INSIDE OUT

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions - Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley's mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

Running Time: 102

"Not only does its 15th movie, “Inside Out,” qualify as the most ambitious, original, inventive and wildly imaginative film to come across the big screen in quite some time, but it’s also a glorious, sweet, funny, charming and incredibly moving masterpiece that easily fits the bill as Pixar’s best outing since 2010’s “Toy Story 3.”

NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE presents THE AUDIENCE ENCORE-- June 28th & July 2nd at The Del Mar

Starring Academy Award winner Helen Mirren and 2015 Tony Award Winner for Best Actress for THE AUDIENCE.

Richard McCabe wins 2015 Tony Award for Best Actor in a featured role for THE AUDIENCE.

The Audience sees Helen Mirren reprise her Olivier Award-winning performance as Queen Elizabeth II, following her Academy Award win for the same role The Queen. Encore screenings of the original West End production of The Audience, captured live in London in 2013, feature an exclusive Q&A with Stephen Daldry and Helen Mirren.

For sixty years, Queen Elizabeth II has met with each of her twelve Prime Ministers in a private weekly meeting. This meeting is known as The Audience. No one knows what they discuss, not even their spouses.

From the old warrior Winston Churchill, to the Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher, Tony Blair right up to today’s meetings with the current incumbent David Cameron, the Queen advises her Prime Ministers on all matters both public and personal. Through these private audiences, we see glimpses of the woman behind the crown and witness the moments that shaped a monarch.

The Audience has received three 2015 Tony Award® nominations for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play (Helen Mirren), Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role (Richard McCabe) and Best Costume Design (Bob Crowley). The production has also been nominated for 6 Outer Critics Circle Awards (including Outstanding New Broadway Play), 4 Drama League Awards (including Outstanding Production of a Broadway or Off-Broadway Play) and 2 Drama Desk Awards (including Outstanding Actress in a Play).

Globe on Screen presents

ANTONY & CLEOPATRA (Encore)

Cleopatra, the alluring and fascinatingly ambiguous Queen of Egypt, has bewitched the great Mark Antony, soldier, campaigner and now one of the three rulers of the Roman Empire. When Antony quarrels with his fellow leaders and throws in his lot with Cleopatra, his infatuation threatens to split the Empire in two.

The third of our Roman Tragedies, Antony & Cleopatra picks up Antony’s story many years after Julius Caesar. Virtue and vice, transcendent love and realpolitik combine in Shakespeare’s greatest exploration of the conflicting claims of sex and power, all expressed in a tragic poetry of breath-taking beauty and magnificence. The Globe’s 2014 envisioning of this iconic play encapsulates these themes whilst deftly threading a sense of comedy throughout, and Olivier Award-winner Eve Best’s Cleopatra ‘kisses the audience’ (Guardian) with her ‘magnetically humorous’ (Evening Standard) performance.

THE COMEDY OF ERRORS-- July 9th and July 12th at The Del Mar

Take one pair of estranged twin brothers (both called Antipholus), and one pair of estranged twin servants (both called Dromio), keep them in ignorance of each other and throw them into a city with a reputation for sorcery, and you have all the ingredients for theatrical chaos. One Antipholus is astonished by his foreign hospitality; the other enraged by the hostility of his home town. The Dromios, caught between the two, are soundly beaten for obeying all the wrong orders.

Basing his plot on a farce by Plautus, Shakespeare caps the mayhem of his Roman original to build up a hectic tale of violent cross-purposes, furious slapstick and social nightmare.
